Police corruption in Cartagena

This time let’s talk a little about corruption in Cartagena, more specifically about corruption in the authorities of Cartagena. I still remember that when I was little I saw how police went to houses where other people sold drugs and they turned a blind eye for a few bills, from that moment they did not seem like a big deal and I have always doubted the security they offer.

Even today I have met officers who (according to my criteria) are not suitable for the position since some of these are very undisciplined, temperamental and incomprehensible.

These have on many occasions harmed the citizens, although this may also be the fault of the bad government, but I do not want to inquire much about that. An example of how officers harm citizens is making police checkpoints and asking citizens to expose their belongings in dangerous places and late at night.

Another example of police corruption is the abuse of the authority they have towards people, I understand that the police aren’t robots and that they don’t have a chip in their head that tells them that what they are doing is wrong, the problem is in that there are many times when these exceed their capabilities, and that is wrong.

There are many police officers who do their work correctly, the problem is that several of these people do not finish solving the problems, they only diminish them while they are present.

A good solution to all these problems could be to create an academy for police, where in reality these are educated and learn moral, ethical and even study an intermediate level of law, so that they can better carry out their work.

I must also point out that there are many officers who do well with their work, but that we still do not know what we can do or not do, then all the officers who have passed. A plan like this is very difficult to carry out and it would take a lot longer on your own note to write down an improvement, but sure it is a very practical way to combat this problem.
